dnaOne of the many strange things I did whilst under the influence of heavy medication for pain relief last year was to purchase a DNA research kit. December 2010 saw an incredible amount of rain fall on the farm and the upper reaches of the Weir River which runs through it, which lead to flooding not seen by a living person. Unfortunately our first decent winter crop in more than a decade and one of the best wheat crops ever was totally destroyed. Despite the best efforts of our community who rallied to the homestead and workshop to save machinery from the flood waters by moving tractors and vehicles to high ground even that was swamped. Miraculously though the homestead remained on a tiny island above the muddy waters. They say a picture tells a thousand words...here are a few many tacken from boat and helicopter as it took months before vehicles were able to get back on the paddocks.
