I so often hear people complain to me about being taxed to the hilt....maybe I'm just someone who has written on his forehead 'talk to me about your problems' but it is something that I don't really get.

As a farmer who has lived through prolongued periods of drought and flooding I see income as one of those horizon mirages...You can see it think that its not far away yet it always seems unobtainable. I was also one of the past Australians to expirience Provisional Tax... a weird tax you paid before you earnt any money. It really was shit and thankfully got the axe when Howard Reformed the Tax System.

Having spent now such a long period not earning income I am excited to be able to pay my contribution 'cause it means that I am earning an income that's big enough to warrant Wayne Swan's hand in my pocket.

So next time you hear someone complain about their huge tax bill remind them that they are obviously earning HUGE income. Oh and also remind them that they could take an interest in politics therefore have a bit of a say over where that tax gets spent and if its increased or reduced. Or you can just shut up and be thankful that they are paying so much and you are not.
