Unemployment is set to rise all over the state, we are billions of dollars in debt despite having a dream run of boom years, the government has continuously run rough shod over its citizens in doing its own will, our water supply was stuffed up, our electricity supply hardly keeps up with growth and we have a health system almost as bad as NSW (now thats saying something) and we have a fraction of the police we need to get on with our lives....
Things were going pretty good there two weeks ago. I had a a great guy I was seeing who had really put himself out there and had spent a month with me on the farm and working farmers markets. Despite a continuation of the drought, my drought tolerant sheep were powering ahead and producing great drops of lambs. I had heard some fantastic news from my media manager in Melbourne. And after a month, had turned around the dire financial situation that my lamb business had been run into.
I do not agree with Government mandated Protectionism during recessions.
It doesn't work. It leads to Depressions. How do I know this? It's happened twice before in both the 1890's and 1930's slumps.
I think it ludicrous that the US is headed into a protectionist mind frame with the clarity of history show that free trade is the only way out of recession.
This week our PM proved himself to be a great leader with his 'green' initiative of insulating 2.7 million homes.
Whilst Australians are quick to say they are environmentally conscious and the green vote continues to grow from strength to strength, the people of this nation are also quick to install air conditioning and purchase clothes dryers, 4WDs and big screen TVs... all of which are contributing causes to the ever growing holes in the ground at our massive coal deposit.
Kevin Rudd's initiative to insulate houses truly does make a reduction in the use of coal and thus a reduction in emissions.
