When I was a teenager I was too afraid to be me. Most of us are.
As the years have passed the comments sounding similar to ‘young people today seem so sure of themselves compared to when I was young’, and how true that is. In Australia minority groups who once ‘accepted’ their schoolyard second class status no longer do and feel and are as equal as any… We all know children are pack creatures, they follow leaders, be they self appointed or adults. Thankfully our schooling system did away with much of the systematic second classing of minorities…and not too much later it was largely diminished or non-existent, even if bigotry was instilled in the child at home.
After a hectic week….more will be revealed about that in the coming year… I floated the idea of heading to the Goondiwindi Races, which I attended last year for the first time as ‘Fashions on the Field Presenter’ and had an absolute blast. So when the work at our ‘Farmer Dave’ headquarters in Ashmore became too much and my mate rang to say we had to head west, I had few inhibitions to turn off the computer screen.
Today, like many days in my life, has been a massive comedy of errors…
So I’ve just had my mate Brian turn up… and suggest we head to Gundy and do the races.. anyways he is butchering Banjo Patterson so I better head off…
Hopefully we survive the 5 hour drive from the Gold Coast to Gundy in one piece (yes i use my little Fiat Punto… its too ecomomical not to)….it’s 7pm now…not to worry the races don’t start till 11am.
I do believe in constructive conveyance of a message to the masses to enjoy democratic change via a nation’s parliament… it’s easier, less troublesome and allows the unwashed to stick to their ideals of not adding to world pollution by yelling nonsense at the top of their lungs whilst feigning an attack by policemen doing their jobs to protect the general public trying to go about their daily life.
Well, he is preoccupying my life at the moment, at least I am trying to let him (blah blah, it's getting very dry again and we have had quite a few losses from parasites, but I promise this blog will be upbeat)
I bought him off my ex-girlfriend's fiance.. kinda funny in itself..
