Well, he is preoccupying my life at the moment, at least I am trying to let him (blah blah, it's getting very dry again and we have had quite a few losses from parasites, but I promise this blog will be upbeat)

I bought him off my ex-girlfriend's fiance.. kinda funny in itself..

With the loss of my team of four dogs over 2005-06 and being left with just Rowdy, it became time to start building back up? Of course it's hard to start again, as I spent little time with Rowdy, it was bit too emotional going through the training with him as he reminded me too much of my hero Bill, who I lost in very upsetting circumstances.

However Rowdy never gave up on me and remained ready to be taught the ropes, so I wiped away the sadness and have been putting in the hours. It's a lot harder teaching an older dog new tricks, but actually rather enjoyable, as he truly wants to please me, his pack leader, and work in the team. Jed has come along at the right time, as he has reinvigorated my love for dogs and working with them in a pack to achieve goals. He has been in the yards three times now and follows commands precisely, in fact he, Rowdy and I drafted and treated over 600 sheep over the weekend. Mind you, a lot of back breaking work was done to compensate for not being able to use the traditional three-way drafting gates (but hey, with a lot more time we'll get there).

He also did one full day's mustering and treating sick sheep in the field, however we had my mum there just in case he got a little too carried away with the job, and only twice did he forget who was pack leader.

So enough jibber, here are some pics of my little man and his big bro Rowdy.

After a hard week marking lambs and treating my older sheep for ailments, I take my young pup Jed and Rowdy down for a swim
