We have all seen those cringe worthy performances on the reality singing shows, and the severe deflation that those contestants get when the judges cut them down and inform them of something that they have never heard... 'You are Really Really Delusional and cannot sing'.
I have been inundated with the kindest of messages from all over the world as a result of Australian Story, I am truly Thankful to have been able to share my journey.
On Monday night 952,000 people tuned in and acording to TV Week that was over 100,000 more than usual for the show.
It is very humbling to think that there were so many people that night taking an interest in how things have been.
Thank you Again to Kent Gordon and ABC1 for telling my story.
Today ends a week where once again I opened up my life, my private life to the public once again. This was thanks to a very decent and incredibly skilled man by the name of Kent Gordon. After being approached to introduce Shelly Argent's Australian Story earlier in the year, I thought a lot about going back to opening up on TV, of course there was my admiration for Shelly and her noble cause in seeing that her gay son is treated just as her straight son is by the state which lead me to instantly say yes to her. However there is a giant leap from an introduction to being the actual subject of a Story.
Kent Gordon has an unbelievable talent for getting a story and for getting compliance from his subjects to open up. It was this skill and an appreciation to which he dealt with Shelly's Story which lead me to breach the issue with my Family to see if they were interested in once again being hoisted into the lounge rooms of Australia.
A few months ago my best mate and world famous hairdresser Geoffrey was awarded the prestige of being Australian Colourist of the year, which if you didn't know is very flash. As part of his award he received 2 tickets to Britain to attend the world biggest hair expo...kinda like AgShow of FarmFest for Hairdressers, and crazily he offered me his plus one. Being pretty much broke since leaving my Lamb business and devoting much of my time to charity work and volunteering in Sydney I was very reluctant to take him up on his offer.
