I'm in pain, a lot of pain - however I have a big smile on my face. There are a few reasons that have me ignoring the fact that my ankle feels like it has been wretched from its place on the end of my leg and my legs feel as though Ive waded through the swamps of Botswana for a week.
The first, that finally NSW will be getting a broom to the rotting cronyism and inaction of the Labor Government that has been just a game of musical chairs the past half dozen years and the second that they are being wiped away by all parties, Nationals, Independents, Liberals and Greens. Thirdly the overwhelming amount of Liberal/National supporters volunteering on the booths for the entire day, I went to many booths to give assistance and each booth had as many people handing out Liberal 'how-to-votes' as all the other parties combined. It truly is extraordinary how many people have come out over the election to ensure this government is replaced.
Finally what is making me smile after such a long day was the camaraderie amongst the volunteers of all persuasions. Some had their issues but the vast majority were really great sharing a joke, coffees, sandwiches and wraps. You can't ask for more from your country when you have such a great day for democracy.
So whatever your colours be proud of your country and the behaviour of the people which is truly incredible, it is an example of civilised society which in this era of revolution makes one so humble to be part of.
Now Im going to sink a few more painkillers and maybe think about heading to a Celebration party with mates new and old at different campaign headquarters.
