Well I have had a pretty crazy few weeks...culminating in a near fatal drowning in my shower/bath.
It all started like any other week after a successful quick round trip to Queensland where we were runners-up in the Queensland Red Meat Awards - Sheep-Meat Producer of the Year and I won the Celebrity Cook-Off at the Ekka.
Only issue was that it was a Friday, which meant traffic chaos in Brisbane. My last engagement was at 2.30 pm so I started calling for a cab then and was told it would be 45 mins. I rang up a few time in the hope of getting an earlier one. The lady then admitted the likelihood of a cab would be near zilch to the airport so I got my three large boxes of 30kgs of lamb for the trip to Melbourne and my couple of bags and began hoofing it to get a cab off the street. Drenched in sweat and arms ready to die, I stumbled into the Valley Train Station only to find it under reconstruction. So several trains and some very unfortunate stares later, I made it to the line to the airport...and just missed the express to the airport...and of course my plane.
Thankfully I am never without someone to talk to, so chatted to some other commuters and downloaded about my stressful day, hoping to explain away the shocking state I was in....yes it seems I was not acclimatised to Brisbane's humidity that day...but to my amusement fellow commuters just wanted to know about my time in the BB house. I must say I always find it funny when person after person asks the same questions and someone sitting next to me gets in on the fun.
I made it to the airport to find an extremely helpful gent at the Virgin desk who wait-listed me on the next flight (it, like all flights, were fully booked with long wait-lists). When I checked my bags to an even more helpful girl I discovered he had put me at the top of the list and with the traffic chaos I was sure to get on.
After an anxious wait, and even more helpful staff, I was on...and was only an hour late for my own birthday party, which was in full swing.
Gotta love your mates hey!!!
Post series of celebrations and new working hours at the Dog Daycare Centre, which sees me up at 4:30 am for a 6am start, and with plenty of events that I have had to attend, I was rarely getting more than 4-5 hours of sleep a night.
Then with Rowdy's passing and more late night events my body gave up and I fell like a tonne of bricks with the flu, spending five days in bed with severe fever... it was just rotten.
I was lucky enough to be involved in Ricki-Lee's latest video 'Wiggle It' just before I was hit with the first night of near deathness...I haven't seen it yet but am so looking forward to it.
The first night I was really crook I passed out in the shower...blocking up the plug and filling the bath to overflowing, which threatened to drown me and my apartment.... not a good look. I came to and spent the next day sopping up the flood and trying to get all that water off my lungs...so painful.
So yeah it's been a fun period between my birthday party and my actual birthday... and yeah I have learnt a lot.
Get some sleep!
