Stumbled across your site this evening and from what I have seen, it looks terrific. I need to spend some time reading your blogs and watching your vid's etc.
One problem though - when joining I received the activation email - clicked the activation link and all seemed ok. when I went to sign in it came back with a message that activation hadn't finished and I couldn't sign in (I tried with another email addy - same result).
How's life on the farm?

Hey Dave,
I had the pleasure of meeting you at the Farmer's markets this afternoon. You were being rather cheeky about being a good shag and I was trying to pick out a great piece of meat! Quite fitting I thought!
Anyway, I wanted to tell you that my partner & cooked the Sage & Onion Steaks that I bought today from you and they were PHENOMENAL! Bloody beautiful. I can't wait to cook the 'full leg' on Saturday.
Will definitely back to buy from you and am very keen to know about the brochure you handed out today about cutting our meat bill in half. Haven't find that info on the website as yet - but am keen to know more info.
Cheers!
See you next week.

Would love to meet you one day, just to tell you how much you ROCK!! ;) - You must remember me by now, as I'm sure I'm the only person who says You Rock so many times in a message! ;) Way to go on the 40 hour famine too. I did those years ago, but no way could I stomach it now!! Pardon the pun!!

Message: Hi Dave, read about your partner problems, I'm the same but not a hunk like U mate. I like my guys to B younger than me as I get on better with them, am young at heart, but alas that seems to repel guys, I look for between 18-45. Am a townie,66,hairy as hell, fat,98kg,, on a pension, poor, well this probably explains that the younger don't respond. I get very lonely, came out late in life, was married. Can understand your problems. Live in Sandgate. I wish U well in your search. Wish I was30 years younger, keep your chin up, one day it will happen, perhaps not for me. I did have a 20 year old for 3years when he off with a guy 1 yr younger than me, and an 18 yr asian who I ended., Good luck, Dave, Ray

I will be back at your stall in 2 weeks to buy as much as I can freeze. Keep up the excellent work. Why do we all buy shit from Coles and Woolworths when there is food out there as excellent as yours.

Message: Hello Folks,
I am retired, well off and for no renumeration would dearly like to assist a farmer and or his family to have a break. My time is unlimited and as I love the open space and animals it would be of benefit to both.
The fact I was in the armed services for twenty years and my childhood was from a Central Queensland region indicates both security and the fondness of animals.
My wife would prefer to stay at home as she is not of bush material so this is a compromise that would possibly suit a lot of people.
Dear Farmer Dave could you place me on the right track where this info would get some exposure as I would dearly love to help the farmers in South East Queensland.
My Phone number is 0741247787 ( Hervey Bay ) or 0402329587
Many thanks

Anyway, just wanted to say that I think your pretty adorable, and if you ever get to Canada sometime, I'll be here to show you around (at least Montreal)... I'd love to get to Australia some day too. Was thinking sometime in July when I'm done school (our summer but your "winter") Is the difference between seasons really that apparent there? Anyways, keep up the good work, and try to win a vacation to Canada sometime...

Message: Hi Dave,
Firstly I just wanted say how much I admire you and what you have done and achieved. I respect you on so many different levels. You probably would remember but when you were at Dalby Ag, I had the property Hayfields across the road. Anyway, I recently read your comments re Tuvalu retaining the Monarchy and think I have found a kindred spirit. I believe in our Constitution and in the Monarchy and believe it is the best system of government. I don't beleive in a republic at all. As I sit here and look at the trouble the Commonwealth Government is making of things and I won't even begin with the NSW government joke that is their labour Govt. Why can't the opposition call for a vote of no confidence and the Governor call fresh elections.
Sorry I am off track. Anyway I just wanted to say Hi and thanks for everything you have done and are doing. I work in the Public Service - if you are ever in Canberra and well, come to Dinner, I cook a mean steak and or Lamb.
Cheers

Good on for all that you have done for raising awareness about protecting the vulnerable and your promotion fo organic and free range food. If there were people like you the world would be a better place.
Even though I have a disability, your passion for doing what you believe in inspires me to remember that with hope and hard work, anything can be achieved.

However I was watching Ready Steady Cook today and heard mention of your website and the fact that you sell Lamb direct. I am happy to support Farmers and cut out the bigger Supermarket chain. I currently buy all my fruit and vegetables from aussiefarmers.com.au and all my certified organic skin, hair, body, cosmetic and oral products from hrtlan.mionegroup.com. There are many other sites where you can buy most products you NEED therefore giving little to the big chains! I fully support this approach and will continue purchasing in this matter and this includes purchasing from your site. Good Luck with your business. I will help spread the word!

I've been on & off reading your blog & website for a while now and I just wanted to let you know that I think you are pretty great. I think you are a very interesting & intelligent person with extremely well formed opinions who has an articulate way to communicate them. As many people, I started watching you on television in 2006 and I am very thankful that myself and people had the opportunity to "get to know" you there because I believe it has enabled you to make a real difference and of course have a widespread audience that you can influence - or at least - make people start thinking, I really enjoy reading your blogs and writings. Thank you for all your wise words, interesting writing & efforts :] I really do respect you very much and I am so happy that your popularity was not a fad because you most definitely deserve to be listened to, which is more than I can say for many, many, many people that have been famous or pseudo-famous.

We have been together ever since then, Ive always been one to hold on to the belief that there really is love out there n e ways at the risk of sounding really sappy and corny (cos I am really corny lol) just wanted to say thanks cos ur beliefs have encouraged me that there are men who do believe in love.
Thanks again

Message: Hi Dave, i am a gay farmer in Gippsland area in Victoria. I have a 300 acre property running sheep, cattle and some potatoes.
We are not in drought at the moment as we are getting coastal showers, we are very lucky, i cant even imagine what your going though.
I run xbred ewes and my lambs are Dorset and Southdown xbred and i breed Limousin Vealers. Its good to no there is farmer like us out there and we are not alone and you are making the case for us which is great, thanks for that.
When you have got a millisecond can you let me know hows the farming going at the moment and if you are getting any rain, i like to know. Being a fellow farmer i know about alot of the dramas we have on the farm every other day.
Keepup the good work Regards Neil

It must be odd for you because so many people feel as if they know you, but you were so open and friendly that within 2 minutes I almost felt like a old friend!
The shop is great and the lamb is superb. Will post a picture on the recipe site.
I wish you luck, love and happiness...and keep up that gorgeous smile!
See you in a fortnight..

Message: Hi Dave,
Just wondering, I saw and had a photo taken with you at the Water Polo Championships in Melbourne last year. This was mainly for my wife Jane who has written to you about what she thinks of you and the great inspiration you are to many young people. I have 4 kids and you were a great example to them on a lot of things. Anyhow, There are a lot of coincedenses, like our friend Jo met you in a lift and spoke to you about Jane and seeing you in mel at the swimming and you corrected her and said it was the W.Polo etc etc.... One of our great friends Sylvana (Max's aunty) has also met you and spoke highly of you. Cutting to the chase, my lovely wife is having a birthday in Nov and I was wondering if you were around Sydney and would like to come. It would be such a surprise, she would absolutely do cartwheels, and would love to meet you. Not sure whether you do that sort of thing, but if you do read this, please e-mail of call me and let me know what you think.... It would prob be dinner somewhere, with 8-10 people, nothing over the top.... anyhow I am Dom and you can also get me on 0402 298 662..
Thanks again
Dom

Message: Dave, I think that support between you and those admirers who have helped to make your identity a marketable brand name should be reciprocal. You have already thanked me for my small help with the Farmerdave Free Range Lamb website.
I now think it's past time you wrote a blog on the disgraceful fact that the pernicious disease of Equine Influenza has been allowed to invade our country.
On our property we have seventeen out of seventeen innocent horses ill and suffering. We are in quarantine for 50 days. We and the thousands of others whose beloved animals are ill and whose livelihoods are adversely affected have done nothing to deserve this.
The only logical conclusion is that Government officials connected with the Quarantine Service, funded by our money as taxpayers, have been very slack indeed.
I think the EI crisis fully merits your using your high profile to try to get answers that will return Australia to its former EI free status. Australia was built on the horse's back, as well as the sheep's back.
Other media personalities such as Tracy Grimshaw whose five horses are all ill are very much on the case. Why don't you join them?

my reason for messaging is that i was at a dr.s appointment, in a waiting room when you guys popped up on the tele., & to my horror, there were these young idiots giving you guys shit & repeating everything that, mainly zach, said in this overly exagerated put on campy voice! i was so angry! lucky for them i wasnt feeling flash, and ignored them. it is very disappointing & frustrating, especially in s.a., to hear this sort of bullshit & unacceptance! so keep at it, your strength & positivity keeps me,& others im sure, to keep on going.

Message: G?day Lil,
Thanks so much for your kind words I really appreciate them.
It?s a been a bloody hard slog getting this venture off the ground, so we outback farmers do need as much help as we can get, as I guy who has lost most of his ?work load? to the drought I at least am able to put my energy into promoting the venture for the families out here and let consumers know that they can get the best lamb they have ever tasted direct from the farmers. After all we do know the best lamb often gets exported now you can get it fresher then ever straight from the paddock.
Thanks again mate and please pass on the word.

Message: G'day Dave,
It's hard to add something original to such a long list of compliments and gratitude. I can say that I too have a deep respect for you, as well as pride and gratitude for what you are doing to help others. Your friendly and enthusiastic personality and practical actions give hope and inspiration to many, and your motives are genuine.
I have a great empathy and respect for your courage and openness; it is a powerful inspiration to those of us who continue to struggle with the expected consequences of such a move: in our work, family, social and even political lives. I applaud you for your honesty. I hope you will be rewarded with the success you deserve, and that others will benefit from a better informed and more tolerant society, which you help promote.
I was prompted to write after reading that some senior National Party members may try to thwart your efforts to take an active role in the party. This is very disappointing, yet typical of an increasing intolerance within some sections of politics. There is a growing level of homophobic based opposition and this worries me.
You may not wish to be a 'crusader' for such a cause, but I'm equally sure you would share these concerns. I think it is time like minded people banded together to respond to this growing criticism. Would you be prepared to be involved?
Please let me know. Regardless, good luck with all your endeavours and keep up your good work!
Best wishes

Message: Dave,
You are a true inspiration - from being spell bound by you from the BB house and hearing every word you say as if it were my own sometimes...i could show my family (there on the TV!!!) "see not every gay bloke prances" as was their misconception....
Being from a rural background, i also know what its like to castrate 2000 lambs in a week long marathon camped out under the stars 200 kms from nowhere!!! No rubber rings its all knife, teeth, antibiotic injections and fly strike powder!
Farming can be a tough, great way of life.... you and your fella making a go of it is all you need out there.... - but its not all "Macleods Daughters style"!!! there are times it can be down right hell.....and the drought...well it can be soul destroying. Dont let it grind you down.
Dave, THANK YOU for what you have done and what you continue to do. Maybe I can visit one day. Keep the website going.
Hang in there mate, the rains will come.

I had not heard of you nor much that goes on in Australia and by chance I was looking up video on youtube (I am a dancer) of my friend's brother Steven Grace(whom you did D.W.T.S with)and came across some video of you and 3 hours later... I was amazed and applaud you. You gave me reason to miss Australia for it's down to earth, speak your mind/honesty and charm.
I can officially say there are no, yes NO gay men like you in Manhattan (NYC), where the homo population of 100 of thousands are concentrated on this little Island of Manhattan.
I hope relieve will come to your farm soon and I wish you every success in your journey and keep smiling because a smile gives everyone hope and the feeling of care and warmth.
Ps I went through a box of cleenex from crying every time you cried on BB ")
Pps: you should get a myspace page. Because Everyone in America would Love You!

Message: Hi David,
I planned to tune-in to see you on Big Brother ''once'' because you're such a handsome bloke but was shocked to watch several more time purely because you seem like such a lovely bloke.
I'm a Sydney boy gone 'suedo bush' (extremely faux-bush in comparison to your heritage :-) and farm in the Southern Highlands, I'm growing black truffles on 2 properties.
Being gay myself, I think that your championing of gay blokes in provincial Aus is fantastic- good on you, keep up the great work.
And keep that gorgeous smile on your dial ;-).
best wishes,
Dan.

Message: I was impressed by your efforts on the dancing with the stars. The part that impressed me the most about you was your willingness to abdicate if you were voted to continue. i know you felt that your dancing wasn't good enough for carrying on to the final. I am trying to say, that you saw the need to do so and that took guts, some would try to get there just for their own glory.
it proves you are not conceited. well done!

Message: Hi, Dave,
Rob here m8, from Brissy. Have just started to look in on your website and keep informed of your recent activities. Just want to congratulate you for your stand and support for the farmers of the outback. You are a credit to all the hard-working Aussies on the land. You have made a stand for truth and I appreciate your openness. We grumble here in Brisbane about the drought, but really have nothing to whinge about when we see what you folks are going thru.We all hope and pray that this terrible drought breaks soon.
Once again, Dave, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us all, and I look foward to reading your book one day.
Cheers m8,

Message: Hi dave,
i watched you on bbo6 and i enjoyed getting to know you through the tv. I had to stop watching bb06 in early july as i was successfull in getting a night job cleaning the local meat factory. i don't live to far from you, i'm in the laidley shire. I'm half way between country and city. What i wanted you to know was, when i seen you get evicted and your partner came to greet you, you are the only gay man that i have seen that looks sooooooo natural with your partner, you can see that you have alot of love to give. I'm saying this because i haven't had any gay couples in my life before and watching you is my first experience. thank you for educating me, in the brief time watching you and showing me something i would never have the chance to see otherwise.

Well, what can I say-firstly I have so much admiration for what you have done...the farmers, the gay community etc. I also what to say that I did read that someone had told you that it would be hard to find a partner now because anyone who had any interest in you would seem like a stalker. Well, unfortunately Im now going to seem like a stalker. I could not think of anything better than being in a monogamous relationship, facing the hard times and of course the good times on a farm. I guess now I'm sounding really cheesy, but seriously, I'd love to have the opportunity to at least try.

I live in a National electorate and I'd vote for you. We need as many National party candidates as we can to allow the Nationals to govern the State in their own right without the fuddy duddy like Dr Bruce. So go for it and if you need us to send a letter to the Nats let us know. Even my mother likes you and would vote for you and she's hard, so very hard.

Message: Hi Dave,
Finally had a chance to read your bio & can understand all that you have been through - I too grew up in the bush, in the Glenmorgan district. I also did the boarding school stint & there were periods there that made life unbearable, but that strangely made me more determined to finish, to succeed & also made me stronger.
I am now 39, live on the Sunshine Coast & think about the life that may have been, as well as the possibilities that may yet be achieved. Life is an interesting roller coaster & you have certainly been out there doing your best to high-light some of the issues that exist for gay men in the country - congratulations.
I have a couple of mates that live out that way still, mutual friends of yours I believe - I hope that at some stage we may cross paths some where - there are still issues that are far reaching for people in the bush & some that I believe that will be more impacting for young men than just acceptance & lifestyle, that is in health areas - mental & sexual.
Congratulations on the strength that is so eveident in you & god luck with your endeavours - hope you have a great holiday & look forward to chatting some time in the future.
Regards, Mark.

I watched you on dancing with the stars. I work for The Rural Financial Counselling service, NSW - Southern Region. We are a service that has offices around NSW. We provide a service to farmers and small businesses that are affected by the drought. Our services are free of charge. We can help people to gain assistance and are always there for a chat.
I just thought that you tried hard at dancing and you had a good cause for your funds.
I just wanted to let you know that there are people out there that can help. I also know how hard it is for farmers to speak out. If you are talking to any that may require a little help please don't hesitste to contact us and we will do our best.
Good luck with your far m.

Message: I never watched Big Brother so I didn't know anything about you before you started Dancing with the Stars. I think you were great on that show, and you gave 110%. I do hope that things improve for you on your farm, I know it wouldn't happen overnight as the drought has been affecting farmers for many years now. We have a small property in the mid-west of WA and at the moment our weather is rather weird to say the least.
Good on ya for doing what you have done to raise the awareness, I wish you all the best for your future, and never stop smiling you have a smile that really lights up the room
Warmest wishes

You made me so proud. You danced so well, you are such a gentleman the way you offered to withdraw and let Kate keep on.
You can do no wrong in my eyes.
I will continue to always support you - no matter what you next do!
Thank-you for helping the farmers - I am from a farming family, so know too well what the drought can do to the land.
There should be more people like you in the world.....

Message: Hey Dave,
I saw you on Sunrise this morning and just wanted to say a big thanks on all your efforts for raising awareness on the drought and how it is impacting the farmers. 5 years ago I was one of 'those people' who was always bagging the farmers for crying poor me, then I met my now husband whose family has been farming the same plot of land for 125 years. We are, fortunately, in an area that is not soo badly being affected but can now appreciate how the farmers up north and in the west must be feeling. Selling not just their stock but their lives on the land. The general public have no idea about the work that is involved in farming it is not a 9-5, 5 days a week job, it goes round the clock 365 days a year. There is nothing worse than pulling a calf at 2.30am, well except maybe some of Todds comments.
Anyways, You are a great guy and I wish you all the best in whatever you fall into next ... not moo poo!!
Cheers

Message: Dave,
I heard your interview on Merrick and Rosso this morning and thought i would have a look at your website. I would just like to say to you that being a proud 5 generation Australian myself, i am so very glad that someone who has been on Big Brother is using his status now for the greater good of our country. Instead of taking your clothes off and making money from other degrading activities you are trying to raise awareness and support for our struggling farmers. I am not a Big Brother addict or nor do i eagerly await its return but last year you actually made the show worth watching along with Claire. You represented what we like to call a "fair dinkum" Aussie and there should be more people like you on that show.
While i do agree that your dancing skills could be better.. i do give you credit for giving it a go and shaking off comments from certain judges with such small brains.
I really believe you are a genuine, fantastic person and i wish you well in your future endeavours whatever they may be.
I wish i had some mates like you!!
Kind Regards,
Amanda Morris

Message: Dave, what an inspiration you are. Just keep doung what you do each day, take all the punches and roll on no matter what. My family are all off the land at Hay and Booligal (no mans land), and we have all endured droughts for many years. Your photos just brought back so many memories of our past experiences. Live life to the fullest and it is a pleasure to have a person like you in the "Farming Fraternity". One of our oldest sayings is "You can take the girl out of the country, BUT you can't take the country out of the girl". I live in Sydney, but still classify myself as a country girl. Enjoy the land forever. Be Happy.

Message: G'day Dave,
Well we watched you on BB06 and found you to be a good Aussie bloke regardless of your sexuality and a fella that showed compassion and was always true to yourself and the people around you. We watched you every week on Dancing with the Stars and like me, you have two left feet. Both Marie & I are now taking dance lessons in southern Sydney and are having a great time. As for the drought, we have 514-acres in the Mudgee region in central NSW and we haven't had any decent rain in 8 months and the live stocks are suffering. I hope one day to spend my years living on the property and raising a family on the land and if we have a son that is anything like you we will be truly proud parents.
Best wishes,
Marie & Scottie.. :-)

You thrilled a lot of people on Big Brother and obviously did on the dancing stars too. I would never have the guts to do what you have done. If I copped the ribbing that you got from the occasional judge, I'd be up on an assault charge. Todd was obviously very jealous of you cos of your good looks etc etc etc. Take care matey, keep smiling and see you at the Wickham sometime.

Message: Hi David, Please don't invite Todd to work with the animals. He is so insensitive he would upset them! You are being insulting to lovely cows calling him a moo cow (not sure of the actual words you used but I heard the cow bit)
We only buy Australian grown vegies and free-range ham, bacon, pork, chicken, eggs and beef that is not finished in a feedlot, lamb is great as they are all raised outside in paddocks. You have to look hard for free-range products sometimes but it is worth the effort, animals should live as happy a life as possible. (Woolworths have packaged free-range ham and bacon in with their other bacon and ham lines - tastes better)
Sorry got a bit side-tracked there.
Be kind to yourself David, you are a wonderful person (like my son David) and have great ambitions, but i know the big picture can get a bit overwhelming sometimes. Take happiness from each little success, and the jigsaw of the big picture will come together almost by itself.
Computer hug. Have a great life.

Message: I live in the rural sector in Western Australia. We experienced our worst year ever last season but there is no way we are going to complain about it.
We flew over Australia 3 weeks ago and saw first hand what a dry barren land we have become.
Maybe people could look out their aeroplane window when they are making their weekly pilgramage across our great land and shoot a prayer up for the poor buggers trying to make a buck working in the dust bowl below.
Your web site provides good practical solutions to helping all farmers out, all over Australia.
We as farmers know that Australia doesn't rely on us any more for food and primary produce but think about what it would be like if we all just packed up and walked off the land (a thought that has crossed our minds many a time).
Mission starts in your own backyard.
Congratulations for winning a bronze in the dancing competition.
It was the confidence boost you needed. Not just for your dancing but also to empower to keep fighting the fight.
Come on Australia. Learn more about your farmers and primary producers and what they are faced when trying to run a business that provided Australia with the wealth it has today.

Love you on DWTS!! My votes have gone your way again this week. You certainly deserve extra points each week for getting in and having a go. I learnt to dance in my mid teens, and boy oh boy - were there some strange and awkward moments with all the learners! Hope to see you in the finals.
I live in the Central West of NSW, and the drought is also having a large impact here. The hand feeding of stock, and seeing them along the roadside, is a daily occurrence. However, the general feeling is that the worst is near the end, and that come the end of the month the rains will return.
Love Your Work!

You are a true champion, I hope you win with all my heart, I used to live on the land and I know it can be tuff, and I think what your doing is commendable. I think the likes of ol' Toddals as a judge seem to have forgotten how it is to be learning to dance, and I bet he was a boring dancer and probably no where near as gutsy as you. I cannot see him ever attempting to do what your doing, and I wonder if ol Toddals even knows which end of the sheep ya feed, so stick at it mate you have the majority behind you and for all the right reasons, Your the star not the judges or the other dancers. Just wanted to write a message letting you know that you have my vote for DWTS regardless of any harsh comments from judges.
Let me add that I have loved you since I saw your beautiful face the night you entered big brother and even voted for you to stay each and every time you were up for eviction. I was very upset when you were evicted.
Yes, I am an older lady, I think I'm old enough to be your Mum and if I were I'd be very proud. You're a beautiful soul inside and out. I can only imagine how proud your Mum really is.
I wish you all the luck and happiness in the world my darling, I'll keep watching and voting like mad, even though I can't use a mobile to SMS I make my husband do it for me, sometimes that can be a struggle but don't worry I nag him *grins*, to make sure lots of money is raised to help the struggling farmers like yourself.
Keep that beautiful smile on your face, it lights up the world.

Message: David,
you were great on DWTS tonight, keep it up. It was a good basic Samba routine, which you mastered.
The judges are quite nasty and not constructive. You do not deserve those ridiculous scores, and you are by no means worse than people from the prior series. I danced for 17 years and I know it takes an enormous amount of courage to dance in front of a live audience as well as the million or so at home! You're doing great for a beginner and the judges need to remember that.
You're in the show because the audience like you and want you there. All the best,
Melissa

Message: 'Hold True To Your Beliefs And Dreams'
Dear David: It seems rather strange to me that I am now writing this email, to say to you what I could have face to face ...on Jan 25th you were standing next to me at The Laird's 'Mooning' Fundraiser, but were surrounded by many others. Like many, I have observed the power and depth of your personal and spirtitual growth over the past year or so and admire you greatly for it. The 'essence' of who you are must be trusted and nurtured; and so too, your messages and influence. No doubt like many, I was shocked to hear your TDT interview last night regarding the bout of criticism being hurled at you by 'public commentators' concerning your involvement in 'Dancing With The Stars' ...it is sad to know that such angst exists in many. 'Hold true to your beliefs and dreams', David, for that will always be your strength in the face of any adversity. The next time I see you, in Melbourne or Brisbane, I will be pleased to introduce myself. Best wishes for all that you would wish for yourself ...let your power be your energy across that dance floor! Cheers, Kym Whittington Some Text Some Text Some Text Some Text Some Text

the farmers, the young troubled gays, the depressed to name few. You should be proud of yourself and when you dance relax (don't be stiff) enjoy the music and give it all your effort thinking that YOU are dancing with some top stars and that you are one of them even if you have scored badly so far. You can do it, others have ie pauline hanson. Look at kate C. she did it and she thought she was a looser. Give us your supporters a big surprise. Your personality is a big winner matey.

Message: Dave,
I must be the most ignorant guy in recent history. I havent seen Dancing WTS. I refuse point blank to watch BB. But I stumbled onto your website quite by accident after my son Chris set up my laptop, and I went looking for information on this bloody awful drought we are now in. Attending a small country school and then boarding school in Sydney;growing up in the Riverina on a typically diversified wheat/sheep/cattle farm; living, travelling and working in Southern Africa (no stranger to drought), and still having the farm to go back to when my son has holidays and he wants to do some fencing; that quality of life on the land is still better by a country mile than the big smoke. I want my son to grow up with a love of the land like you have. And he is. He has been to Africa with me, and we travel again in December this year. Two farm boys on wildsafari together. It doesn't get any better Dave. Join us if the drought breaks and you get a good price for the wethers and lambs. Hang in there. Things change. Or they bloody better! Tony.

Message: Hello Dave,
best greetings & wishes from Poland ! You seem to be a very, very nice person and I'm very sorry I could see you in BB and now in DWTS (but thank God we have YouTube ) It's pity that we didn't have in our BB such a pleasant, honest und just great guy like you that openly said he's gay. Nevertheless I still hope it will change!
I wish you more success und luck in the future & keep one's fingers crossed for you in DWTS !
(P.S. Sorry for my english, but I've never realy learn it :o)

Message: Sending you my love and well wishes for a long and wonderful life, all the way from North Carolina in America. I watched every episode of your time in the Australian Big Brother house, cried with you, lauged with you, and enjoyed every second of it. You are my all time favorite housemate of any Big Brother series (and I watch them all, USA, UK, AU, etc). I read as much as I could about you online while you were in the house and after you exited. You are an incredible person and I hope you share that with as many people as you possibly can, you are an inspiration. I have twin teenage boys and I hope they grow up to be half the man you have become. I love photography and I really enjoyed looking at your globetrotting images. You are quite the world traveler. When my kids graduate in the next few years and head off to college I plan to travel the glboe with a few friends and I hope our path's cross one day. Best wishes to you and yours.

Message: I was able to download BBAu this past year and enjoy you and the show. It is so different than the American version where participants are cut-throat and manipulative (guess that reflects our culture) and people are not interested in nor want to learn about others. You and your mates were refreshing. Thank you for your sense of decency and compassion. May you have a wonderful life and I hope to read good things about you in the future.

Message: Hi Dave, Posted a couple of comments on the DWTS website. Gosh some of those people are awful! Just wanted to say I think you are going to be great. You know exactly who and what you are doing this for. I'd love to see you be the Aussie battler who sticks it to em in the end. In a nice way of course! I simply mean that sometimes those that create rubbish sometimes need their critism to be openly torn apart. Oh and yes unfortunately that little comment you made at the end of your dance did make it to the mic, so be careful - no one to censor LOL I thought your performance was good and loved that you seemed to sing along in parts, just go for it. You didn't look like an idiot and besides that isn't really the point of why you are doing this, hey they haven't made you wear a tutu yet and even then I didn't laugh so what you got to loose?

I have admired you as a guy, after seeing you on BB, your want/need to promote issues and use the media is terrific. I only wish that I had as big a 'drive' as you have. I definately feel for those in minority groups ( being gay myself ) and have stood up for them ( and us ) in my own small way. I long for the day that we can feel comfortable in the real world, not hide, but be accepted. One day eh?

Hi Dave
Like you I come from a rural background (maryborough Qld) and like you I am gay and out with a capital O.
To see your immense strength in staying in a place which can be draining and intolerant is inspirational and as a psychiatric social worker now I applaud every thing you are doing to help our rural gay boys and girls out there. Unfortunately my work is in the city but I hope in the future in some small way I can also make a difference to those "out in the sticks".
I have been priveliged and honoured to meet my soulmate woman 5 years ago and every day is a blessing with her. We got married 2 years ago and I really dont care whether John Howard believes in it or not! I really feel strongly that there arent enough role models of satisfying gay relationships that people growing up gay can relate to and seeing your ideals portrayed on the big screen maybe will help some of them make those healthy connections and let them know there is more to being gay than drugs or dance parties, that they have something special to offer the community they live in and the potential to bring a lot of joy to a world that needs it.
I will keep doing my little bit and I know that you will keep doing your little bit and maybe at some point, this government of ours will come to the party.
Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration.
Yours sincerely,
Erin

I've met you a couple of times (like prob thousands other people) with a mate of mine paris (who seems to know everyone) to my recollection i was fairly wasted and more than likely made a dick of myself, for which i apologise.
My family has cattle and poultry farms around Casino in Northern NSW and it was reassuring to see someone who has been through a similar situation. I have just moved to Brisbane for a change and to hopefully find a partner. I still campdraft when I can although my horses aren't getting much work while i'm away, but actually thanks to you on Big Brother my being gay isn't an issue and i am talking about some really old cow cockies, (apparently you reminded them of me)...lol anyway mate all the best and i hope the heavens open soon and releave some of the pressure.
Cheers & Take Care

I am sitting here with tears rolling down my face, (bit of a waste of water I guess, the irony of that is not lost on me that's for sure!) I am shattered to learn of how tough you have it out there, the pics of you washing the mud off the lamb you rescued from the dry dam broke my heart. I'm so sorry that I'm not in a position to help financially, I am on a benefit and it only stretches so far but I've decided to save the little bits of change that gather in my wallet, as soon as they grow to $35 I will send it your way. Much love to you from me (Faye) and Milly (my staffy dog)

I am sorry about your farm, I understand your pain as my Grandfather was a pioneer farmer in Northern Queensland. I am also sorry to hear of your relationship break-up as well, these things are never easy, but you have the strength and courage to go on, and it will get better on both counts. You have a great deal of genuine support from the Gay community in particular, which is great to see. Thanks again for taking the time to write, Best wishes, Steve

Message: My heart goes out to you and your livestock as you try to battle trough this sickening drought. I too am a sheep farmer and know exactly the frustrations and hardships that people on the land are experiencing at the moment. We seem to cop it on all fronts, not only with the constant lack of rain, and drying conditions, but also with low prices and constant pressures placed upon us by suppressive lobby groups and governments. We as farmers refrain from asking for help at the best of times, so it is a big and desperate step to do what you have done- ask for help. I congratulate you on your strength and courage as you battle through this trying time. If I could send you rain instead of money I would be delighted, however my prayers for rain too are falling on deaf ears.
warmest regards, Dave

Message: G'day Farmer Dave,
Noticed your story on my Gay Com e-newsletter which gave the web link........just a suggestion....how about running the same story in all GAY newspapers in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth............as well as contacting DNA Magazine (in Sydney.....http://www.dnamagazine.com.au), as maybe the Gay Community in Sydney and other places of Australia should rally behind you (pardon the pun - not said intentionally).
Dave, as for myself, I will be forwarding you a cheque for $70.00 to sponsor 2 sheep within the next couple of days.
Dave, on a personal note - I'm sorry to read that your friend Sherif dumping you, but honestly mate - having a gay guy who lives on the Land - like you do - would be more understanding to your experiences, and I sincerely wish that there is a gay farmer out there who reads your story................and comes forward to provide you with much needed love and support.
With kind regards, Peter (I'm based in Sydney, but I love the Country........I'll go anywhere away from smog).

My family watched you and loved you every night that you were on BB.
It is so sad that you are going through this with your sheep. I want to sponsor one of your sheep even though I am a single mum and have four kids to get ready for school. I am sure $35 will be money well spent and a pleasure to know that it is helping someone as sweet as yourself! You were a very much loved charactor. As I only live in Kingaroy we are also feeling the drought. Hope you didn't get hit by that tornado that hit Dalby the other night? Any way I will send money hopefully in the next two weeks and I will spread the word.
Kind regards,
Gail.

I envy you for the courage that you had on BB06, you inspired me to be more honest to myself, although im not gay myself, it proves that you can make a difference to everyone. I have just recently moved to QLD myself from melbourne and driving through the country i saw how the drought was effecting the farmers, even though it was raining when i reached Goondiwindi, i saw how quickly the ground soaked it all in. I pray that the weather takse a turn for the best and that rain will bring the crops back, all you need is a little bit of hope and a lot of patience. I'll be sure to watch you on DWTS and i hope for all teh best.

Message: Hi Dave. I must admit I didn't really pay all that much attention to Big Brother, but I happened to watch the night when you were voted off, and I was so touched by what little I knew about your life.
I know what it's like growing up in the country. It can be extremely gruelling. I am so amazed at how you've shone through it all. In so many ways you have inspired me to be better and to take risks. I have recently moved from a small country town to the city, with very little money and hardly what I'd call a job, but I have no regrets and things are getting better every day. You are an extremely inspirational person. I am so glad you put yourself in the public eye, stirred things up a bit, made your statement, and things are only getting better for you too.
Keep on doing what you do. You're a brilliant, and again, an inspiration. Come and visit Melbourne soon, and bring Sherif with you!

Message: Hi Dave. Can't wait to see you on DWTS. I have never missed a show so I wont be missing you. Gonna get some people together from work and sponsor a sheep or two. My prayers go out to all you farmers, I hope you never get to the point of having to shoot your stock like some are, or worse still, having to leave them to die a painfull death because money is so tight you can't afford the bullets. I have seen this in outback SA. The sheep were so skinny from dehydration and their fleeces were just brown and dead. This sounds morbid but if a few people read this and sponsor your sheep then hopefully that will help you feed and water them until you get a descent rain. Come on guys, pitch in. With all these sheep dying the price of lamb sky rockets but the money isn't going to the farmer. They get minimum per sheep, we pay maximum per kilo.
Good luck with everything Dave

I ,congratulate you on all the good work you have done drawing attention to depression and gay issues. It was good for australia to get a look at different gay personalities, and gay people have a lot more going on than some media portrayals.I was sadened to read on your site(which is a great site by the way) that things did not turn out as you wished(sherifs loss).I too take a long time to get over relationships and suffered deppression, and only time heels,(your time). And,these people who said get over it,they havnt really loved or are just cruel.
Dont become hardened by it all,as the same qualitys that attracted sherif, will attract some one else.I hope the gay community can support you with your sponsorship as you have helped the community.May good karma come to you and your farm, cheers ron.

Message: hello dave
its hot in sydney
i went to oxford to buy some books at the gay bookstore
and dropped by wok inn thai restaurant
saw your ex sheriff with his new bf, well, they look great and in love
they had thai early dinner too........
i felt sad for you, but i wish them well too
everything happens for a reason, it does not mean because people left us they are bad people, it's just that ,their time with us has passed and that they have other journeys, so are we, but at certain stages we are the one left behind, and at times we are the one leaving.........
then my friend told me that you needed help regarding your sheeps
so i immediately went to your website.
i am sending 105 aud by money order to sponsor three sheeps
i have been active in donations since i arrived in australia 3 years ago
am an emergency physician recruited to work in an area of need in nsw
hope my share can help you with your noble cause
take care, and dont lose sight of your vision..........
Love,lee

Message: Hi Farmer David,
I loved you on Big Brother. You were very entertaining and I thought you should have won. It was great to see all sides of you on the show, even your sensitive side. Women love that in a guy to see there sensitive side come out. It is a pity you are gay for you are such a good looking guy. Any guy would be lucky to call you his partner. Hope you find that someone special to help you run your Sheep Farm.
It takes great curage and guts to be a farmer these days and I wish you and all the farmers in Australia all the the best of luck. You have to have guts and determanation these days to be farmer. My prayers are with you and all the Australian Farmers in the hope that the drought will brake soon. Good luck with all your sheep you are doing a great job. I hate to see animals suffer it brakes my heart. Hang in there the drought can't go on for ever.

Message: Hi David,
I heard you on the radio this morning (Nova) and had no idea you would be doing it so rough after BB. I'm very sorry to hear that.
I was also a gay "contestant" on a popular reality TV show (rival network) and like you, after all the fan fare was over you truly are left to get back to your life and reality, only it doesn't seem as easy for so many reasons. Yours is the drought, mine was for other reasons.
At any rate, I hope that more people will get onto this site and help in any way they can. I plan to tell as many people as possible about it and hopefully, some of them will do the same and we can at least sponsor some of your sheep.
It was suggested that you try to make a documentary by one of the DJ's, and you asked whether anyone would watch it. I think the answer to that is a resounding "Yes!" So I would encourage you to look further into that. It could prove more fruitful than you could imagine!
Best of luck to you and if you and Sherif are ever in the Brisbane / Gold Coast area I would love to meet you both and brain storm other possibilities to help the cause!
Cheers,
Richard

Message: Hello David, I have just found this sight, ...thanks to a read of a magazine....and thought I would pop a message in.
I am the mother of a gay son so am very aware of the challenges, hardship, and bravery it takes to lead a lifestyle often looked down on by many people. The last season of big brother is the first I have watched due to my son telling me a little about you. l have never felt so proud of a complete stranger before, your dignity, your behaviour and your passion for what you believe in was just a wonderful thing to watch.
Many family members I know also wathced the show and now have a clearer understanding of my son and his life style, which is a great thing as he can now be who he is openly and proudly.
I love to see him hold his head high and face the world proudly, and some of this is because of the way you showed the wider community that being gay is not something you choose to be but who you are.
I pray and hope that the drought breaks very soon for your area and for all those effected by it.
regards
Donna ( a proud mum of a gay son)

Its a path that u begin to walk with a blind fold on. Its difficult to find your way, your place in 'the gay world' and know if the decisions your making are correct. Really - its trial and error. But after a looooong & at times heartbreaking journey ive taken on my parents are now standing proud of me &i couldnt be happier. Ive come a long way as have you. i now organise The Melbourne Mardi Gras Group & travel to Sydney each yr to perform in the parade &this year my parents &my 4yr old niece are paticipating in our float-our theme for the '07 parade is "knocking out discrimintaion' to be innvolved in the parade as you know is an experience that takes away all the hurt, tears, confusion and darkness of the roads we have travelled. I wish you well, happiness &love. The sun will shine tomorrow with or withour Shariff in your life but as lonely as you may feel when the pillow beside you is cold remember-you had made a difference in so many peoples lives &you did that all by yourself. be proud and show the world your gorgeous smile. i look forward to having drinks again with you some time on the balcony of my hotel like we did after sleaze ball... maybe we can catch up after mardi gras at my hotel? much love, danni disco

Message: Hi Dave,
We were hooked on BB watching every day unfolding. Good for you, we felt proud to see you there being yourself. My partner and I have travelled a long journey to be where we are today, living together and enjoying everyday. I came from the bush in central Qld. I love the land very much and I loathed to leave it.(My Dad still lives there and battles on.)
The bush nutures the soul, yet the current drought which eeks on extracts a dreadful toll with heart rending decisions that have to be made every time an othe crisis comes along. I went and had a lot of counselling over two years, to cope with my guilt, homomphobia and demons, we both went along so the two of us would accept ourselves and make to moves to get us to where we are today, l also made the decision to leave the farm to be with my best friend and partner and lover. it is all worth it.
I hope everything turns out well for you and Sherif, keep your goals ahead of you and make those steps to get there, you can do anything, I proved I could make those things happen, but it was so scary too.
Happy New Year Dave, Sherif, Family and friends.May it rain, soon. Jean xx

Message: Hi David, I have to tell you that I miss not watching & listening to you on tv. You were the most interesting (realistic & honest) HM that has ever graced BB. I hated it when you were getting into an interesting story & BB would cut to something else. I could sit for hours on end listening to you. I dont understand why you didnt win last year as everyone I know gay & straight were backing you to win. rigged I say.. My 8yr old daughter Aimee was heartbroken when you were evicted & didnt watch the rest of the show because you were not in it. You captured the hearts of all. good luck with everything david especially the new venture at the farm & Sharif. you deserve it. Sharlene

Hi Dave, Just wanted to say thanks for your courage and your committment to your truth. I have a brother whose name is also David, he is currently a religous brother in the Catholic and has been there for almost 18 years. He is struggling with trying to leave the church and come to terms with all it means to be gay. I have to say it makes my heart ache to watch him knowing I can do nothing more than love him and accept and encourage him.
This won't be my last visit to your site. Thanks so much
Drought has become a constant reminder that Dave's farm is truly situated in the driest farmed continent on earth, here are a selection of videos showing the effects of these increasingly severe droughts as well as the ways he and his family are managing them.

Since building the original website in 2006, Tim has been the backbone in creating and maintaining this website as it has evolved over the years - many hours to the project.
He co-ordinated the effort to save sheep on Dave's farm during the drought in 2006 and put the same skills to use mustering votes for for Dave's time in Dancing With The Stars in 2007.
Apart from spending many weeks helping out on the farm, he was also instrumental in the beginning of the Free Range Lamb project. He sold up from semi retirement in Dubbo in central NSW to move to the Gold Coast to take an active role in the Lamb business. He became a successful farmer's market marketeer and built the Free Range Lamb Website.
His web building talents where recognised by a major IT company and Tim has been working fulltime on a range of IT Projects since then.
Despite a busy workload, Tim still finds time to continue improving this website as well has helping with Dave's new ventures, building new websites and creating videos, being both cameraman and editor.
